The Wavehaven was created in 1992.  An 80-year-old country villa became a coastal base for Taranaki thrillseekers. Situated in the backyard of some of New Zealand's best surfing and wavesailing spots, the 'Haven is the ideal accommodation for visitors keen to experience Taranaki's world class outdoor attractions. The Wavehaven can be found on State Highway 45, just south of Oakura - the core of surfing and windsurfing in Taranaki.  Oakura is the home of Sirocco windsurfing and Vertigo, where all your equipment needs are met.  The major centre of New Plymouth is only 15km away for any transport or nightlife requirements.

 
Activities
Taranaki offers a wide range of adventure activites - all handy to the Wavehaven.
Top of the list are excellent surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing beaches. Egmont National Park presents a whole new set of alternatives - from skiing and snowboarding to tramping and rock climbing. Sky diving and hang gliding may tempt the daring while internationally acclaimed gardens and walkways offer a more tranquil adventure. The haven crew have a wide knowledge of the local area. Taranaki is a unqiue area of New Zealand. The Wavehaven is unique to Taranaki.

 
Accomodation

Relaxed, clean, comfortable, the haven is just like home. A large kitchen, living room, hot showers, heaters, duvets and blankets in all rooms make it a pleasure to return after a hard day of fun.

A mixture of double, twin shared and dormintory rooms range from $20 for a dorm to $50 for a double, $40 a night there after and $30 for a single.
Added extras include TV, microwave, dishwasher, laundry facilities, expresso machine, broad band internet access, international pay phone and fax.
